1. What is Tenkawa Daibenzaiten Shrine?

Known as a shrine “only reachable when summoned,” Tenkawa Shrine is dedicated to Benzaiten, the goddess of music and the arts. Artists and worshippers from across Japan come here to pray and give thanks.
2. Approach and Grounds: Unity with Nature

Climbing the stone steps, you'll see the shrine appear as if floating within the forest. Surrounded by greenery, the grounds exude a tranquil and divine atmosphere.
3. A Corridor Lined with Lanterns

Lanterns line the wooden corridor along the shrine, creating a mystical ambiance especially at dusk. The harmony of natural light, wood, and greenery is stunning.
4. The Five Shrines and Their Deities


Five small shrines are lined up on the grounds, each dedicated to a different deity:
- Ryujin Okami (Dragon God)
- Taishogun Okami (Guardian of directions)
- Tenjin Okami (God of learning)
- Ohirume no Mikoto (Another name for Amaterasu)
- Irihiko Okami (Local earth deity)

Called "Four Stones, Three Springs, and Eight Shrines," this sacred area features heavenly stones considered divine vessels, cordoned off with sacred rope.

The interior is filled with a solemn, sacred air. With hanging bells and taiko drums, the space evokes reverence and silence.
